We need a kiddy cabinet.

I was working on the computer, and knew he was getting in the pantry but figured he couldn't get into anything dangerous.  (He's done this before, so the tops of the cans are clean)

Love this face...and those cheeks!

Caught him mid-sentence.  I think he was telling me to get lost!
I've been meaning to do it for a while, and I think now is the time.  We have one cabinet in our kitchen that is not child-proofed.  I'll start putting things in there that he can play with, so he thinks he's getting into something cool, and I can rest assured it's kid friendly.  I think he could play in there for hours...

Head Banger

Growing up (until 6th grade) my sister and I shared a room.  When we were really little, I had the bed and my sister had the crib at the foot of the bed.  I can remember when we were put to bed, she would get on all fours and rock, banging her head into the end of the crib.  It would make a banging sound.  I wasn't one to question at the age of four, but I thought it was a little strange.

A year or so later, she was in my bed, banging her head against the head board.  I got used to it, and in fact was soothed by the odd habit.

Fast forward 25 years...my son has inherited this strange habit.  He soothes himself this way. Turn up your volume...

Guest Room Re-Do

When Stephen and I moved into this house, we had three extra bedrooms that needed to be furnished.  We each had bedroom furniture from old apartments that had been in storage, so we threw those in the rooms and haven't really touched them since.  While one is used rarely, the other one is our  main guest room when people come to visit, including the grandparents.

For Christmas, the Dotsons gave us a queen-sized mattress set and the fixins for the room, thus starting the makeover process.  The previous owners used this room for their kids playroom, and the carpet and walls told the story.  Before the new mattress set was delivered, we installed new carpet and painted the walls (Mossy Green, Glidden)...and trim.  The trim in the entire house is a cream color, and we are on a mission to get them all white'ish.  In case your interested in "white'ish," we love Swiss Coffee from Glidden.  Anyway, back on track.  We painted the trim and walls, and by the time my seamstress arrived (Glenda), the room was on it's way to completion.  Glenda is great at designing, and sewing, so it's nice to have her and her budget-savvy ways on our team!

We needed a new headboard since the new bed was wider, so the guys headed off to Home Depot to get the wood backing, and G added the foam and fabric, stapling it to the back.  We then gained some FREE gray linen that matched perfectly from Aunt Jeanette, and G made two pillows and the drapes from that fabric.  All that was left were some finished touches, found at Ikea, Home Goods, Garden Ridge and Kirklands and you've got yourself a Guest Room Re-Do!

Here are some BEFORE shots:

And AFTER:

Tables: Ikea
Lamps: Home Goods
Front Accent Pillow: Kirklands

Frames: Garden Ridge
Pictures: I took these in Barcelona when visiting Casa Mila/La Pedrera, Gaudi's Museum/apartment.  He's my favorite architect/designer, just a little fun fact.

Mirror: Garden Ridge
Table: Kirklands

We love the new room...now come see us!

Snow Angels

Knox and I thought we'd take advantage of this weather and play in the snow.

Down the street

Our neighbors have two boys that were playing as well.
He loved watching them, not so impressed with the snow.

No makeup.  Don't judge.  It was early...

With the neighbors weinie dog, Rascall

It was at this time I noticed they made snow angels.  I decided we needed one.  To CMA, I took him inside immediately after so he wasn't cold or wet.  Don't send CPS over here.

Getting started

He's trying to see if he likes it

eh, maybe

Finished product.  So cute!
And in case you noticed, NONE of his clothes match.  He had on 3 layers, all different colors and brands.  We live in Dallas, didn't really think to load up on snow clothes.

Must Have...

I found my Valentine's Day gift, honey :)  Yall, these are awesome.  You don't have to be a busy mom, or working dad to enjoy these planners.  Students, Gigi's and Mimi's, Aunt's, socialites, etc. these are for you!

Visit her website...you can personalize your own calendar, using your favorite picture or her modern designs.  I'm in love.

And, since I copied Katie's post almost directly, I though I should give credit where credit is due!  Thanks, Kate!

Before the weather turned "wintry."

Friday-Sunday was some of the best weather we've had in years.  It was amazing.  Today, wintry mix.  That's what the news crews have been calling it.  I think it sounds funny...but it's pretty accurate.  Back to the amazing weather...we thought it would be fun to take Knox out on Sunday in the adorable Radio Flyer that our friends the Meijer's got us.  Thank you so much Gloria and Marcel!  He. Loved. It!

Ready to go

Love that sweet, gummy smile!

He spent a lot of time grabbing the dogs...poor Bella!

My men at the waterfall at the end of our street.

I love our neighborhood.  So pretty!

Knox and Stephen found a friend...I think he's exaggerating
when telling him how big the fish are in the creek :)

All three of the kiddos at the park

Gracie's turn

So excited

This is my favorite...his hair blowing in the wind while he
clapped at the trucks going by!

Three generations

We're lucky to have such a family-friendly, nature-filled neighborhood.  Knox loved visiting the creek...I'm sure we'll spend a lot of time there this summer!  Come on by, there's another seat in the wagon.  Even a cupholder :)
