Introducing...Captain Jack Sparrow!

Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend we headed to Austin for the TX/BU game, but we couldn't resist taking some pictures of Knox and the family in the pumpkin patch.  He didn't so much love it, but the pictures turned out better than I figured for a 6-month old.

Baylor Homecoming

Knox has been sick for two weeks.  I feel like he's been congested forever.  We were worried that he might not feel up to it, but he woke up Saturday morning feeling great, so we headed out to Waco for Homecoming.  We started at the parade, hooked up with some sweet friends and then headed for the tailgates.  We were able to see a lot of friends from college days, and watch the youngins in amusement!  It was a great trip, and we're glad we did it.  Next year Knox will REALLY like the parade and bears...can't wait!

Knox was ready for the parade to start!

I got carried away.

My good friend Shannon invited me on Monday to G'Nosh, an amazing place where you paint a piece of art with a professional while sipping a glass of wine with friends.  I told you it was amazing.  We had so much fun, and it unintentionally started an itch I had to scratch.  So, Tuesday afternoon I headed to Hobby Lobby.  I left with brushes, acrylic paint and 5 canvases.  Seriously.

Then, the mayhem began.  I've been wanting a cool piece for my dining room.  Everytime I find pieces I like, they are FAR too expensive.  Why is art so expensive?  It is WAY more fun to do yourself.  I digress.  In my living room, I made an arrangement of fall'ish flowers, and as accents I added a few peacock feathers.  I love the way the teal picks up the blues in my living room.  So, I started searching on Etsy for fun peacock prints.  I figured it might tie things together more if I had peacock accents in both rooms.  I found this picture and was sold.  It had all the colors found throughout my house, and I thought it might be doable to paint it on my own.

I started painting when Knox went to bed, and had the large portion on the left completed.  I finished all of the residual feathers last night.  The finished product:

I love the way it turned out.  Now I just need a larger buffet table and our dining room will be complete.  Finally.

Now, I couldn't stop there.  I had four more canvases, and wanted to do something different in Knox's room.  I have always wanted 1 Samuel 1:27 incorporated in his room somehow.  Stephen has really wanted his handprints somewhere.  I decided to put the two together, and then I played off his light switch covers/growth chart to do the shadow animals.  I love how it turned out.  I ended up hanging his mobile from the ceiling so that the art took the main stage.  He loves watching it twirl on it's own now, too.  Here's the final product:

Knox seems to like all of the changes...

Mark your calendars...

Most of you know my affinity for rap music.  This video is absolutely amazing.  I haven't stopped grinning since I watched it.

The MINUTE Knox can walk, we're doing a family rendition :)

It was bound to happen.

I got a cold.  I gave it to Knox.  He's semi-miserable.  I feel helpless.

It was bound to happen at some point, I just hate that I was the one to give it to him.  Hopefully we'll both recover quickly...and his nose will stop leaking like a faucet.  I can't imagine a runny nose without being able to swallow or sniff.  Poor little dude.

Thankful for the bulb sucker.

Have a great weekend...GO RANGERS!!

First Baylor Game and Big Tex

Stephen, Knox and I headed out to the Texas State Fair this weekend to cheer on our Baylor Bears in their game against Tech.  It was a great game, but unfortunately we lost.  Knox had a lot of firsts, though.  First Dart bus ride, first time meeting Big Tex, and first Baylor game.  He got a little scared when the cheering got loud, but overall had a great time.

Believe it or not, he slept an hour in Stephen's arms while the game (and loud cheering) went on.  I might be biased, but I think he's the cutest little bear around!

Where we've been.

Last weekend, Mimi and Grandpa came in town to help watch Knox while Stephen and I did yardwork.  Ugh.  I hate yardwork.  However, the end result looks great.

Monday, Knox and I headed to Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  We had a great time!  This was his third plane flight, and he was a champ.  We had so much fun with Gigi and Papi, but are so glad to be home!
