San Antonio Weekend

We got home from Cabo on Monday night and then headed to San Antonio on Friday.  It's been a whirlwind of trips around here, but it's been so much fun!

Knox loved San Antonio...well, he loved the riverwalk.  The ducks and birds would come right up to our table, and he was in heaven.  This little family kept his attention for quite a while.  Aren't they cute?

(disregard our looks-it was SO muggy and humid)

One of the cutest things for us was Knox waving at all of the boat tours.  And by all, I mean every single one.  He never tired of it...and they come by every 30 seconds or so.

We "remembered" the Alamo, and even walked through the few museums on the site.  The grounds are so pretty, and it was nice to see some of the sites.

The hit of the weekend for all of us, besides the ducks, was the Children's Museum.  He loved getting to roam around by himself and try everything out.  I promise he had a great time, though he's not smiling in any of the pictures...he gets a little serious when he's focused.

Knox loved the xylophone, and I was thankful we don't have one in the house.
It was VERY loud.

We decided to put Knox inside the bubble.  He was a little concerned at first, but loved when it popped on his head.

He's quite advanced and beat his dad in chess.

We couldn't get a good hand print because he always made a fist, so we settled for his foot.

Our personal shopper left without paying.

And the family shot...playing the virtual drums.

We had a great time, but it's good to be home...for 4 days.  We'll be headed to Austin for Memorial Day, and then we can settle down and get back into a routine!

Cabo

Stephen and I left for Cabo last Wednesday and returned home Monday.  It was SO great, and just the type of vacation (read: relaxation) we needed.  The weather was amazing, and even better...we got to see sweet Becca get hitched.  Stephen and Rebecca went to High School together, and we became fast friends.  We were so excited to get to be there for her wedding, and what a better way than in Mexico?

These next few shots were out of our room balcony at the Hilton Los Cabos resort (click on pictures to enlarge):

We arrived before the majority of the wedding party/guests, so Stephen and I spent a day or two around the pool in solitude.  It was the perfect amount of time, and we were ready to have a great time once everyone started to trickle in.

The first night we went downtown (Cabo) to have dinner.  Stephen and I went a little earlier than our friends and walked around the harbor.

Dinner was at Ediths, a recommendation from some of Stephen's coworkers.  It did NOT disappoint.  I loved the food, but the ambiance was incredible!

The next night was John and Becca's rehearsal dinner on the beach.  They had an awesome dinner with smores around the fire afterwards.

Stephen and I with the bride and groom (please ignore my horrific sunburn in the next few pictures).

Lindsey, Amy, Abby and I

We did this about 80 million times, and laughed hysterically the entire time.

Rebecca's dad came and announced last call.  Need I say more?

Wedding day arrived, and the bride was graced with amazing weather.  It was gorgeous, and she looked even better.

First kiss!
(little factoid: the minister did Speidi's wedding)

First dance!

The sky was unreal for the reception.  We had a great time dancing the night away, and laughing at the shameless onlookers from the infinity pool.

The next morning I snagged one of the bungalows to lay out in, and guess who decided to say hello??

A momma and baby whale.  See arrow, ha!  I unfortunately didn't have my zoom lens at the pool with me.  It was awesome.

Our last night (we convinced our friends to extend their vacay one more night) we headed out to Baja Brewing Company for dinner.  We had great beer, great food and an awesome view.  It was the perfect way to end the trip!

View from the beach.

We were so sad to leave, but so ready to get home and see Knox.  Thanks to our parents, he was spoiled rotten and had a great time while we were away.  If any of you are looking to plan a vacation, I would highly recommend Cabo!

Waking up in paradise...

We're back from Cabo.  Waking up to this every morning was
just what the doctor ordered.  I have so much to share, but I have
some loving to do on my little stud.  Maybe tomorrow :)

Summa Summa Summa-time!

The weather is starting to warm up, and that means we'll be outside (in the water) from now until October.  Can't wait!

Knox's 2nd cousin Josh and his girlfriend Juliana gave him a great splash pool to play in, so we
got it out on Saturday and tested it out.  He loved it.  He didn't love the cold water.
In a month the water will basically come out at 80*, so he'll be fine.

Once he got a little too chilly, we moved to the splash table.  He loves his water table,
and it's so cute to watch him play with his toys and splash.

Whenever something goes underneath the couch, or he hears a noise and isn't sure what it is,
he lowers himself down to listen or look under furniture for his lost toy.  I absolutely love it.
His boat went over the edge of the bridge, so he's looking for it.

Showing me his tongue.

All the playing made him thirsty.  We can't wait for more time outside!

In other news, Stephen and I are taking off bright and early tomorrow for Cabo.  Knox is going to be living the high-life with his grandparents while we're gone.  I'll blog some pictures when we get back...

Crash test dummy

Learning to climb and wanting to run are two reasons my son currently looks like a crash test dummy.

He has a busted lip and a busted eye.

The swelling in his lip has gone down, and you can't see his cut on the eyelid unless he closes it.
I told him to sit still and close his eyes, but he refused.  Stinker.  You'll just have to trust me.

I am going to have to strengthen my "emergency" skills.  I almost passed out when I saw all of the blood.
There will be many more of these injuries in his lifetime...hopefully I can man up :)

Knox's 1st Birthday Celebration: The Aftermath

Ok, please ignore the plastic tablecloth backdrop.  I had this image in my head...and I should have used cloth.  Either way, you can't deny the cuteness.  I let him go to town on the cake after the
audience left.  He definitely enjoyed this a lot more than the first try!

So cute.

To end all of the birthday madness, I thought I'd share his one year stats:

30.5" (73%)
19.8lbs (10%)

Long and lean.  Perfect.
