Stephen's 30th Birthday Shenanigans...

Knox and I came back from Austin on Stephen's birthday (he was also out of town for a work trip, so we didn't leave him hanging).  Stephen's office has moved to Allen, so we met at the shops at Watters Creek.  Knox loved playing with the ducks...

That is until he caught sight of Daddy:

Be still my heart.  It was adorable.  We came home afterwards and hung out together for his birthday, which apparently means doing yard work once you're 30.  Aunt Kelly came and watched Knox for us so we could have dinner with Brian and Amanda.  Then on Saturday morning, we headed to Ft. Worth to celebrate with the Wrights.

We started out in the Ft. Worth Stockyards.  We had the best burger we've had in a while (at LoveShack) and then wandered around the area.  It was a great time, and we felt like it was a blast from the past.

We left and got gussied up to head to dinner with our faves.  We had yummy seafood at Eddie V's, and an enormous (and delicious) dessert before rolling back to our hotel.  We ended the night in the Executive Suite playing board games.  Love the Wrights!

We had brunch Sunday morning and then headed back home.  Stephen thought the party was over, but I had a little cookout up my sleeve.  We had friends over to have burgers and hot dogs (and chilly bevs) and enjoyed the great weather.  I think it's safe to say we both entered our 30's in style!  We're ready for a new decade!

Spring Break

We got in from Houston on Sunday night, and Monday morning Knox and I headed to Austin for a little "Spring Break."  We were able to celebrate my brother's birthday, visit the Children's Museum and spend quality time with the ones we love.  It was a much needed break, and was sad when it was over.  

One of Knox's favorite things to do at my parents house is love on Lexi, their black lab.  Lexi is an old broad, so she doesn't really care that Knox climbs on her like a horse, hugs and kisses her, and chases her tail on a constant basis.  They are so cute together!

His other favorite thing, besides Gigi, Papi and Lexi, is my dad's boat.  From the moment we get there, I hear "Boat, Go.  Momma, Boat Go!"  It's pretty adorable, and since it's parked (and off) in the garage, I let him play and enjoy it.

The last full day we were there, we headed to the Children's Museum with Lindsay and my niece and nephew.  Knox only wanted to play with the train table, but I was able to whisk him away to enjoy some of the other things they had to offer.  It was a fun day, and he was pooped by naptime!  Don't tell him, but we've bought him a train table for his birthday later this month...his head will explode!

We had a great time.  Can't wait to go back once it's warmer and swim.  It was exhausting trying to keep Knox out of the water!

Houston Weekend

I've got quite a bit of blog catch-up to do.  The past week has been a complete whirlwind.  We started the adventure in Houston, then Stephen went out of town for work, so Knox and I headed to Austin for a little "Spring Break." We all met back home for Stephen's 30th on Thursday, then Stephen and I spent the weekend celebrating, including a trip to Ft. Worth with friends.  It's been crazy, and we had SO much fun. 

But back to Houston.  Stephen, Kelly, Knox and I drove up to Katy on Friday afternoon.  We arrived just in time to see the Baylor Men's BB seal their trip to the elite 8.  Once Knox had eaten dinner, we cooked our steaks and enjoyed eating them in a quiet and stress-free setting.  

The next morning we had a big breakfast, and Knox enjoyed cleaning the table.  He's become quite the helper, as long as he's in the mood.  Later, he helped Papa clean mommy's car.  I'm blessed with a father-in-law who takes pride in  my car, even when I don't (ha).  He washes my car every time we're in Houston.  It's a blessing, and Knox loved getting to tag-along!

The highlight of the trip was dinner and dancing at City Center.  We do it every time we are there, and we have to peel Knox off the dance floor every time as well.

When we arrived, we thought we might not be able to stay.  The local gym, Lifetime Fitness, had a 2-hour spin class in the middle of the lawn.  100+ stationary bikes took up the place where Knox loves to dance and play.  Fortunately they were on the last few minutes, and after a half-hour clean up, all was right with the world again.

He was worried he wouldn't be able to play.  

I mean SERIOUS bikes.  The upside was the work out music they were playing on gigantic speakers got Knox in the groove.

We danced a little jig and then headed to dinner.  We always go to the Yard House.  Cold beers, great food and open patio.  Yes, please.  

Afterwards, we tired Knox out with dancing and soccer.  He loves watching all of the big kids play, and ran up to every girl and said "Hi." Such a flirt.

Mimi and Papa always walk him over to the water fall to play.  He loves it.

He loves to "fly" and Aunt Kelly taught him to put his hands out like Superman.  He insisted they do this a few times.

When you ask him how old he is, he says "TWO!" while holding his fingers out just like that.  Melts my heart.

After playing until well after 8:00, we headed home for bath and bed.  It's no surprise that he slept like a baby.  We waited around on Sunday to watch Baylor take on Kansas.  We left 10-min into the first half.  It was ugly.  We had a blast in Katy, though, and can't wait to go back!

Bluebonnets

We were in Austin last weekend, and right at the entrance of my parents neighborhood there was a patch of Bluebonnets.  I figured since we could walk there, we should probably have a photo shoot.  We all got ready, and headed out.  Unfortunately, a storm was rolling in and the wind was unreal.  I never got a smiling one...at 2, though, even if the conditions had been amazing I'm not sure we would have had any winners.  

I'll take what I can get!

After the bluebonnet fiasco, we headed to the park.  MUCH better mood when he knew the park was in his future!

Thinking I might have to have a re-do, just to see :)
