Water Baby: Adventures in Swim Lessons

Lorie and I decided to put the boys in a swim class this month.  We meet for class for 30 min right before lunch, so it's the perfect time of day.  Knox loves water.  He loves bath time, LOVES his water table and splashing, but so far has been mildly interested in swimming and HATES splash parks.  We're working on it!

At class, he tends to want to splash around with me but remain a bit lazy in the "kick" department.  Our first two classes we practiced pulling them and teaching them to kick their feet and dip their hands.  He likes to chew on his fingers and pull his legs in like a frog...which means I'm the one doing all of the work for the 30 min class.

I don't mind, he's young.  Our main goal was to get him used the water, and I think he's got that down!

Loving me dragging him through the water all day

This is me kicking for him.  Notice he's just chilling and not doing anything on his own :)

After his first "submersion."  He smiled, then cried.

Practicing jumping in and then "swimming" back to the wall

Thinking about jumping

Pure concentration (or avoidance)

Love the curls coming in the back of his hair

We had to pause so mommy could steal a kiss!

All smiles after the jump!  That's his favorite part.  He grunts and points to the edge from the second we enter the pool.

Singing a song and doing hand movements

Mommy's Night Out

Thursday night I was able to get away with my girlfriends from Knox's play group. We met at Northpark and had dinner at Cibus, then made our way to the theater to see "Bridesmaids." We had a great time, lots of laughs, and more importantly dinner and conversation with no interruptions from the little ones.

Thanks for a great time, girls!

MFFL!!

I have been a Mavs fan since Kidd first played for us, way back in the days of Jackson, Popeye, McCloud, etc.  I'm not enough of a fan to pay the high $ tickets for the Finals, and am happy to watch on my own couch without dealing with Dallas traffic or the crowds.  But when Kelly called with a free ticket (and the husband out of town to enjoy it) I jumped on it without delay.

The game was amazing.  We had great seats, enjoyed the people around us and had a great time!  Kelly Clarkson sang the national anthem, and if you know me well you  know I love me some KC.  And to top it all off...we WON game 4.  And now we've won game 5 as well...let's take it in 6 boys!

I couldn't bring my bigger (and nicer) camera in the game, so these are with my 6-year-old point and shoot or with my phone.  Sorry for the quality.

The time is NOW!

I was a noWITZNESS!

Dirk draining another one!

LeBron having to wrap his big head around the fact he was getting dominated!

Thanks again for the invite, Kelly!  Pretty amazing!

I'm not going to lie...

I hate the idea of being grown up enough to a) get this award and b) be so excited about it...but I'm not going to lie.  I'm SO EXCITED!

I squealed, y'all!

Splish Splash

We went to the Splash park for Playgroup the other day...and the verdict is still out if he's going to like it or not.  I'm sure once he gets older he's going to think it's the coolest thing ever...but right now, not-so-much.

When he got up from his afternoon nap I realized he had a fever, so maybe that was why he wasn't into it.  We'll try again soon!

The only thing that really made him happy was drinking water from tupperware.  It's the little things!

I took this video to prove that he didn't love it.  I placed him by the water and he continually walked back to me.  Oh well.

Memorial Day

We had a great Memorial Day weekend...but I had so much fun I forgot to take pictures.  I don't think I've ever had a weekend where I didn't take one picture...sad!

We drove to Austin Friday afternoon and hit the hay.  Saturday morning we had our friends Amy, Brett and little Preston and Jeramy and Lindsey over for a little cookout/beer-rita fest.  We had such a fun time, and it was sweet to see the boys have their first swim of the season.

We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing around the house, and then my mom and I went to see Bridesmaids.  I haven't laughed that much in a long time...it is hilarious.  Must see!

We headed home on Monday and found our neighbrohood decked out in flags.  Part of our HOA options is the flags at all major holidays.  We love how festive it looks when the federal holidays come around!

We had a great time, and are happy that our travels (for now) are subsiding and we can get back in the swing of things around here!  I hope you all had a great Memorial weekend, and recognized those that have given their life for our freedom.

San Antonio Weekend

We got home from Cabo on Monday night and then headed to San Antonio on Friday.  It's been a whirlwind of trips around here, but it's been so much fun!

Knox loved San Antonio...well, he loved the riverwalk.  The ducks and birds would come right up to our table, and he was in heaven.  This little family kept his attention for quite a while.  Aren't they cute?

(disregard our looks-it was SO muggy and humid)

One of the cutest things for us was Knox waving at all of the boat tours.  And by all, I mean every single one.  He never tired of it...and they come by every 30 seconds or so.

We "remembered" the Alamo, and even walked through the few museums on the site.  The grounds are so pretty, and it was nice to see some of the sites.

The hit of the weekend for all of us, besides the ducks, was the Children's Museum.  He loved getting to roam around by himself and try everything out.  I promise he had a great time, though he's not smiling in any of the pictures...he gets a little serious when he's focused.

Knox loved the xylophone, and I was thankful we don't have one in the house.
It was VERY loud.

We decided to put Knox inside the bubble.  He was a little concerned at first, but loved when it popped on his head.

He's quite advanced and beat his dad in chess.

We couldn't get a good hand print because he always made a fist, so we settled for his foot.

Our personal shopper left without paying.

And the family shot...playing the virtual drums.

We had a great time, but it's good to be home...for 4 days.  We'll be headed to Austin for Memorial Day, and then we can settle down and get back into a routine!
